About Us

The Story Behind Baci

Since 1986, we've been crafting slow fashion in Italy using natural and organic fabrics such as silk, cotton, linen, and wool.

We create collections for independent women. Wearable pieces with a strong identity, designed with the planet in mind.

Certified by both the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) and the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) because true quality begins with honest materials.

Sustainability lives in every part of our process. We design with longevity in mind, donate excess inventory to causes like Housing Works NY, repurpose leftover fabric scraps, and ship every order in 100% recyclable packaging.

At Baci, we believe in beauty with purpose — clothing that supports people, protects the earth, and invites you to live more fully in everything you wear.

Meet Our Head Designer

Authentic, well-travelled, and rooted in culture — this is the story of Batia Rutenberg, the designer and creator behind the Baci brand.

Batia...

Growing up in Israel, Batia was surrounded by two remarkably talented grandmothers who had travelled from Europe after WWII. One was a gifted seamstress and embroiderer. The other restored, knitted, and designed clothing with equal devotion. Watching them ignited something in Batia that never left her.

Her world then expanded when a family from Venice moved into her neighborhood. Their friendship gave Batia a deep appreciation for the Italian way of life — where beauty is quiet, intentional, and woven into the everyday.

"I decided to infuse the 'Italian way' into the
lives of my customers through simple, authentic, and meticulous design."
- Batia Rutenberg

That philosophy became the foundation
of Baci — a brand made for bold women
with a taste for freedom.
